Professional Bio

Ivory holds a Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy from New York University where she was awarded the Arch award in recognition for excellence in service. Following the tragedy of 9/11, while still displaced from her own dorm located just two blocks from the World Trade Center, she organized a fundraiser for the families of the victims. It was then that Ivory became particularly interested in the healing power of helping others, especially in the midst of adversity.

In 2022, Ivory earned a post professional doctorate in occupational therapy from Boston University. During her doctoral studies, she developed a community level wellness program for young adults with lived experience in the foster care system. This forward thinking program was designed with an emphasis on prescribed volunteerism. While conducting an extensive review of the literature on the topic, she was inspired to write the poem “What If”.  She has showcased the poem not only in her doctoral thesis, but in professional presentations around the world. Her passion for prescribed volunteerism quickly led her to the world of social prescribing.

Ivory is co-founder of a community of practice which aims to promote the integration of occupational therapy professionals and students into the field of social prescribing. She is also the founder of Kindness Arts, which blends the inherent healing of the arts with the less often recognized healing of serving others.
